U- ACT is an environment group formed as a part of the International Climate Champion 2010 program.
International Climate Champions is a youth oriented programme run by the British Council in partnership with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). This programme is part of British Council's global project called 'Climate Generation' which is delivered through a network of Climate Champions across 60 countries and eight Regions. It is directly aimed at young people aged 18-23 and through them will engage leaders and influencers in the society, as well as reaching out to the wider community. Climate Generation engages young people with a proactive interest in climate change and wish to take positive action at local, national and international levels.
Akanksha Gulia, a B Tech student of Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida was selected as a North India champion in this programme. Her ICC Project “THE GREEN BLUEPRINT FOR MY EARTH” aims at overall development of School Children ensuring their contribution toward environment and thus combating climate change via SAVE PAPER, RECYCLE PAPER & similar agendas.
The group consists of young engineers from JIIT Noida who have the aim to preserve the environment. The group visits and conducts workshops & interactive sessions for school children to educate them & enhance their knowledge of environment conservation.
